Passing of Robert Andrews UA Local 179 Member

June 25, 2012
ANDREWS Robert "Bob" Andrews passed away June 25, 2012 at the age of 59 years. Bob was born in Moose Jaw on April 16, 1953 to Mike and Annie Andrews (nee: Henrickson), to join older sister JoAnn and brother Ron. He began his primary school in Tugaske, SK. where the family had moved to operate the Tugaske Hotel and Cafe. During the early days of construction of the Saskatchewan Dam, the hotel rooms were full of workers and breakfast for all starting about 5am......a busy place then. The family moved a year later to Central Butte where they owned and operated the Central Butte Coffee Shoppe for the next eight years before father Mike became ill. Bob had kept in touch with many old school chums from the Central Butte days. The family moved back to Moose Jaw where Annie worked at Providence Hospital and Bob attended Peacock Technical Institute where he played football with the Tornados and loved those days. After High School he attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon to study and train as a plumber/gas fitter. For 25 years he worked his trade at CFB Moose Jaw Construction Engineering alongside what became lifelong friends Wayne Day and Stu Shepherdson, among many others. He spent many years playing baseball and later slow pitch and loved both, until bad knees and shoulders forced him to stop. He loved golf and was usually out on the course whenever possible. He was a life-long Rider and Warrior fan, and loved the new arena and his "perfect" seat. After his time at CFB Moose Jaw he worked at Discount Plumbing in Moose Jaw, forming many new friends and stating it was "the best boss a guy could dream of having". A few years ago Bob was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and COPD, to add to his heavy load of diabetes and high blood pressure. Bob just carried on as though it was just another little block to be ignored or worked around. He had a life-long second family in Uncle Mike and Aunt Pat Henrickson and their children Janet, Lynn and Todd. As fate would have it, his favorite Aunt Pat passed shortly after he did and neither one knew of the other's passing. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Annie Andrews; infant sister Michael; Brother-in-law Ross Lindquist; and niece Debra Lindquist. He leaves to mourn his passing brother Ronald Andrews; sister JoAnn Lindquist and her family: son Carmon Lindquist (Ceanna, Kelsy, Tess, Lais); daughters Terry Lindquist (Taylor); Tracy Sterling (James) and family Zachary, Talayna, Cassandra and Zoe Tremblay; as well as two uncles Marvin Henrickson and Fred Henrickson; aunt Grace Bonneau and numerous cousins. The Memorial Service will take place at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Larry Hasmatali will officiate. Memorials to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Moose Jaw Humane Society, would be appreciated. In living memory of Bob, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
